envoplakin Antibody (F-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects envoplakin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-envoplakin antibody (F-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. envoplakin plays a crucial role in the formation of the epidermal cornified envelope and desmosomes, which are essential for maintaining the structural integrity and barrier function of the skin. envoplakin is predominantly expressed in epidermal and esophageal keratinocytes, as well as in nonepithelial stratified squamous epithelia, but is absent in simple epithelia and nonepithelial cells. envoplakin colocalizes with desmoplakin at desmosomes and along keratin filaments in the differentiated layers of the epidermis, contributing to cell-cell adhesion and mechanical stability. envoplakin′s rod domain is essential for aggregation, while the linker domain facilitates association with intermediate filaments, highlighting the intricate structural requirements for function. envoplakin distribution at the interdesmosomal plasma membrane is influenced by heterodimerization with periplakin, underscoring the complex interactions within the plakin family of proteins that are vital for cellular architecture and resilience against mechanical stress.
