C3 Antibody (B-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 541-840 of the human Complement Component 3 (C3) protein. C3, also known as CPAMD1 or acylation-stimulating protein (ASP), is a central component of the complement system, playing a crucial role in innate immunity. Synthesized primarily in the liver, C3 is secreted into the bloodstream and exists in the extracellular space, where C3 circulates as an inactive precursor. Upon activation, C3 is cleaved into C3a and C3b fragments; C3a functions as an anaphylatoxin mediating inflammatory responses, while C3b binds to pathogen surfaces, promoting opsonization and phagocytosis by immune cells. The extracellular location of C3 is essential, as C3 allows for immediate interaction with invading pathogens and activation of the complement cascade on cell surfaces. Dysregulation of C3 activation can lead to autoimmune disorders and increased susceptibility to infections. C3 (B-9) antibody recognizes the C3 precursor, C3a anaphylatoxin, C3 α chain, C3 β chain, and C3b α′ chain of mouse, rat, and human origin, and is recommended for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). C3 (B-9) monoclonal antibody is a valuable tool for studying complement activation pathways and their implications in immune responses across multiple species.
