QUICK LINKS

Anandamide is an endogenous cannabinoid (CB) ligand that binds to brain and peripheral cannabinoid receptors (CB1: Ki=52nm CB2: Ki=1930nm) and VR1 (Ki=5.78muM), inhibits the binding of [3H]HU-243 to synaptosomal membranes (Ki=52 nM), and inhibits NF-kappaB activation through direct binding to IKKbeta. Some other reported effects of Anandamide are: production of hypothermia and analgesia in mice, decrease in spontaneous motor activity, activation of the MAP kinase (MAPK/ERK) signalling pathway, induction of apoptosis independently of cannabinoid or vanilloid receptors, and inhibition of human breast cancer cell proliferation and migration of tumor cells and T lymphocytes. Additional forms available: sc-200790 (dissolved in solvent) Anandamide is an activator of GPR55.
