2-Butyl-3-(3,5-diiodo-4-hydroxybenzoyl)benzofuran is an analog of the anti-arrhythmic compound Amiodarone (sc-210799). 2-Butyl-3-(3,5-diiodo-4-hydroxybenzoyl)benzofuran results from O-dealkylation of the parent compound. Analogs of Amiodarone including 2-Butyl-3-(3,5-diiodo-4-hydroxybenzoyl)benzofuran were demonstrated to competitively inhibit 5′-T4 (thyroxine) deiodination.
