프로스타글란딘 E1(PGE1)은 자연적으로 발생하는 주요 PG는 아니지만 말초 폐색성 혈관 질환, 신생아 심장학 및 발기부전(1,2) 등 여러 적응증을 위해 임상적으로 널리 투여되고 있습니다. 특이한 지방산인 10,13,16-도코사트리에노산의 COX 대사는 1a,1b-디호모 PGE1을 생성합니다. 이 희귀 대사 산물은 양 정낭의 배양에서 회수되었지만 사람에서는 보고되지 않았습니다(3). 쥐 대동맥과 쥐 PRP의 생체 외 제제에서 1a,1b-dihomo PGE1은 PGE1 자체보다 훨씬 덜 활성인 것으로 밝혀졌습니다(4).
