1-(7-Carboxyheptyl)imidazole, abbreviated as 1C7I, is an aliphatic imidazole compound consisting of seven carbon atoms. 1-(7-Carboxyheptyl)imidazole has emerged as a valuable reagent in laboratory experiments, offering advantages over traditional alternatives. The precise mechanism through which it operates is yet to be fully elucidated. However, current understanding suggests its ability to inhibit the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and impede the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB).
