TANC2 Antibody (D-11) is a high quality monoclonal TANC2 antibody (also designated TANC2 antibody) suitable for the detection of the TANC2 protein of mouse, rat and human origin. TANC2 Antibody (D-11) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-TANC2 antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-TANC2 antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TANC2 (tetratricopeptide repeat, ankyrin repeat and coiled-coil domain-containing protein 2), also known as rolling pebbles homolog B, is a 1,990 amino acid protein that belongs to the TANC family and exists as four alternatively spliced isoforms. TANC2 contains eleven ANK repeats and three TPR repeats. The gene that encodes TANC2 contains 418,170 bases and maps to human chromosome 17q23.3. Encoding over 1,200 genes, chromosome 17 comprises over 2.5% of the human genome. Two key tumor suppressor genes are associated with chromosome 17, namely, p53 and BRCA1. Tumor suppressor p53 is necessary for maintenance of cellular genetic integrity by moderating cell fate through DNA repair versus cell death. Malfunction or loss of p53 expression is associated with malignant cell growth and Li-Fraumeni syndrome. Like p53, BRCA1 is directly involved in DNA repair, though specifically it is recognized as a genetic determinant of early onset breast cancer and predisposition to cancers of the ovary, colon, prostate gland and fallopian tubes.
