EAAT1 Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects EAAT1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EAAT1 (A-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The excitatory amino acid transporter 1 (EAAT1), also known as SLC1A3, plays a crucial role in maintaining synaptic homeostasis by clearing excess extracellular glutamate, a neurotransmitter that, when accumulated, can lead to excitotoxicity and neuronal damage. EAAT1 is primarily located in glial cells and pre-synaptic glutamatergic nerve endings, where EAAT1 facilitates the reuptake of L-glutamate and D-aspartate, thereby terminating the postsynaptic action of these neurotransmitters. This function is vital for preventing overstimulation of neurons and ensuring proper neuronal signaling. Additionally, EAAT1 expression on the cell surface is regulated by insulin-like growth factor 1, which activates phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase, highlighting EAAT1′s importance in both neural and non-neural tissues. With EAAT1′s ability to protect neurons from excitotoxicity and involvement in neurotransmitter regulation, EAAT1 serves as a significant target for research in neurobiology and related fields.
