Clotrimazole is an imidazole derivative and an antifungal compound and a CYP (cytochrome P450) inhibitor. Clotrimazole may act to block the intermediate-conductance, IK1 channels (Ca2+ activated K+ channels), in cells such as erythrocytes. In vitro studies of various yeast strains have demonstrated susceptibility to clotrimazole. Clotrimazole is an activator of MB67 and an inhibitor of CYP3A4 and CYP51A1.
