現在までに報告されているCOX-2阻害剤の中で最も選択性の高い薬剤の一つで、その選択性指数（SI；SI＝IC50 COX-1/IC50 COX-2）は500,000以上である（COX-1のIC50は500 mM以上、COX-2のIC50は1 nM未満）2。(参考としてセレコキシブのSIは約400である。したがって、本化合物のSIは、第一世代の選択的COX-2阻害剤よりも数倍大きく、第二世代の選択的COX-2阻害剤、例えばバルデコキシブやエトリコキシブのSIに匹敵する3。
