Calnexin Antibody (3H4A7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody raised against a Calnexin peptide of human origin, reactive with human samples. Calnexin, also known as CANX or IP90, is a calcium-binding chaperone protein localized in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Calnexin plays a crucial role in the quality control system of the ER by interacting with newly synthesized N-linked glycoproteins, ensuring their proper folding and assembly. Calnexin specifically binds to misfolded proteins and retains them in the ER until they achieve correct conformation. Calnexin interacts with ER chaperones such as ERp57, a protein disulfide isomerase that assists in forming disulfide bonds in client proteins. Calnexin works closely with calreticulin, another ER chaperone, to facilitate the maturation of glycoproteins. Additionally, Calnexin associates with proteins like immunoglobulin heavy chains and major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules, which is important for antigen presentation.
