2′-Deoxyadenosine 3′:5′-cyclic monophosphate sodium salt (cAMP) is an important second messenger molecule involved in a variety of physiological processes, including cell growth and differentiation, metabolism, and neurotransmission. It is used extensively in scientific research to study the effects of hormones and other signaling molecules on cell physiology, and as a reporter molecule in assays to measure the activity of enzymes and other proteins. cAMP stimulates glycogenolysis, lipolysis, and gluconeogenesis, as well as the production of cyclic AMP-responsive element binding proteins (CREB) and cAMP response element modulators (CREM).
