RP105 is a crucial B-cell surface molecule that plays a significant role in transmitting growth-promoting signals, influencing the life and death decisions of B cells, which is vital for maintaining immune homeostasis. RP105 features tandem repeats of a leucine-rich motif in its extracellular domain, which are essential for mediating protein-protein interactions, thereby facilitating communication between B cells and their environment. Notably, the amino acid sequence of human RP105 exhibits a high degree of homology with that of mouse RP105, sharing 74% identity, including the conserved leucine-rich motif, underscoring the evolutionary importance of RP105. RP105′s surface expression is notably enhanced in the presence of MD1, although RP105 is specifically restricted to CD19-positive B cells, highlighting its selective role in B cell maturation.
