PMEPA1 Antibody (2A12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PMEPA1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PMEPA1 (2A12) antibody is available as a non-conjugated anti-PMEPA1 monoclonal isotype antibody. PMEPA1, also known as prostate transmembrane protein, androgen induced 1, STAG1, or TMEPAI, is a 287 amino acid single-pass membrane protein characterized by WW-binding motifs, which are crucial for protein-protein interactions. PMEPA1 is predominantly localized to the cell membrane and highly expressed in the prostate and ovary, where PMEPA1 plays a significant role in regulating androgen receptor levels, particularly in prostate cells. PMEPA1 interaction with NEDD4 is vital for function, as PMEPA1 may facilitate ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of the androgen receptor, thereby modulating androgen signaling pathways. Notably, downregulation of PMEPA1 has been observed in prostate tumors, indicating potential role as a tumor suppressor. PMEPA1 exists in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, which adds complexity to functional roles in cellular processes. The gene encoding PMEPA1 is located on human chromosome 20, a chromosome that comprises approximately 2% of the human genome and contains over 600 genes, some of which are implicated in various diseases, including Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
