Phocein Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Phocein in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Phocein is a 225 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene MOBKL3 and is a member of the MOB1/phocein family, known for its role in cellular signaling and trafficking. This highly conserved intracellular protein is primarily associated with membranes but can also be found in the cytosol, where Phocein forms protein complexes. Phocein′s structure includes a putative SH3-binding domain, which is crucial for interactions with other proteins, particularly the striatin family members that serve as scaffolding proteins. These interactions are vital for the regulation of signaling pathways and vesicle trafficking within the cell. Notably, Phocein has been implicated in vesicular trafficking processes, especially in endocytosis, through association with Dynamin and direct interactions with nucleotide diphosphate kinase (NDPK) and Eps15. Phocein′s participation in these critical cellular functions underscores its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and facilitating communication between different cellular compartments.
