PAcP Antibody (D-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects prostatic acid phosphatase (PAcP) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PAcP functions as a neutral protein-tyrosine phosphatase, primarily regulating prostate cell growth by catalyzing the conversion of orthophosphoric monoester to alcohol and orthophosphate. This enzymatic activity is regulated by androgens, making PAcP an important marker for androgen action on human prostate epithelial cells. Stimulated secretion of PAcP indicates prostatic tissue atrophy, and cellular PAcP down-regulates prostate cancer cell growth, partially through c-ErbB-2/neu dephosphorylation. Decreased PAcP expression in cancer cells may contribute to prostate cancer progression, highlighting PAcP′s potential as a therapeutic target and disease monitoring biomarker. PAcP is encoded by ACPP gene on chromosome 3q21-q23, underlining PAcP′s significance in prostate health and disease.
