IFT81 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects IFT81 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IFT81, also known as CDV1, is a 676 amino acid protein predominantly expressed in the testis, with moderate levels found in the heart, liver, ovary, pancreas, kidney, and skeletal muscle. This protein exists in three alternatively spliced isoforms, two of which are referred to as CDV-1 and CDV-1R. IFT81 is crucial for testicular development and spermatogenesis, and may also play a significant role in cardiac hypertrophy associated with carnitine deficiency. IFT81 is involved in the intraflagellar transport process within cells, which is essential for the assembly and maintenance of cilia and flagella. Proper functioning of IFT81 is vital for cellular signaling and movement, and disruptions in IFT81 activity can lead to various developmental disorders and diseases. The gene encoding IFT81 is located on human chromosome 12, a region associated with numerous genetic conditions, including Noonan syndrome and Trisomy 12p, which can result in facial developmental defects and seizure disorders.
