HSP 65 Antibody (5177) is a high quality monoclonal HSP 65 antibody (also designated HSP 65 antibody) suitable for the detection of the HSP 65 protein of M. tuberculosis origin. HSP 65 Antibody (5177) is available as the non-conjugated anti-HSP 65 antibody. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is is a slow-growing obligate aerobic bacillus that causes most cases of tuberculosis (TB). It is a small, rod-like microbe that can withstand weak disinfectants and survive in a dry state for weeks but can only grow within a host organism. Mycobacterium tuberculosis has a thick waxy cell wall that is responsible for the typical caseous granuloma formation in tuberculosis. TB infection begins when the mycobacteria reach the pulmonary alveoli, where they invade and replicate within alveolar macrophages. Bacteria are picked up by dendritic cells, which transport them to local lymph nodes. The bacteria may spread further through the bloodstream to more distant tissues and organs, where secondary TB lesions can develop in lung apexes, peripheral lymph nodes, kidneys, brain, and bone. Hsp65 (heat shock protein 65) is a Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell antigen that induces NFκB activity by signalling through Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). Activation of NFκB is dependent on MyD88, MAL, TRIF, TICAM-2 and the presence of MD-2. Hsp65 may also play a role in cytokine expression after infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
