galectin-7 Antibody (F-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects galectin-7 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Galectin-7 is a member of the galectin family, which consists of soluble β-galactoside-binding lectins that play crucial roles in cellular processes such as cell adhesion, apoptosis, and tumor progression. Galectin-7 is predominantly expressed in stratified squamous epithelium and is known for pro-apoptotic function, acting upstream of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation and cytochrome c release, which are vital for the apoptotic signaling pathway. Galectin-7 regulation is tightly controlled, as galectin-7 is activated by the tumor suppressor protein p53 and repressed by retinoic acid, highlighting its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to stress signals. The galectin-7 gene is located on chromosome 19, and galectin-7 interactions with other proteins can influence various cellular functions, making galectin-7 a significant target for research in cancer biology and therapeutic development. Anti-galectin-7 antibody (F-3) provides a reliable tool for studying the expression and function of galectin-7 in various biological contexts.
