GABAA Rα1-6 Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GABAA R alpha 1-6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GABAA Rα1-6 (E-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GABAA R alpha 1-6 protein plays a crucial role in the central nervous system as a subunit of the GABAA receptor, which mediates the inhibitory effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This receptor maintains the balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition, influencing physiological processes such as anxiety, sleep, and muscle relaxation. GABAA receptor forms a pentameric structure composed of different subunits, including alpha, beta, and gamma types, contributing to functional diversity and pharmacological properties. Specific arrangement of these subunits can affect GABAA receptor′s response to GABA and other modulators, making GABAA R alpha 1-6 essential for understanding neuropharmacology and potential therapeutic targets for neurological disorders.
