EBV viral capsid antigen Antibody (0231) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the EBV viral capsid antigen protein of EBV origin by immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-EBV viral capsid antigen antibody (0231) is available as the non-conjugated format. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4, is a member of the herpesvirus family and is one of the most prevalent human viruses, infecting approximately 90% of the global population. EBV specifically targets B lymphocytes, and while many infections remain asymptomatic, EBV can lead to infectious mononucleosis, which presents with symptoms such as fatigue, fever, sore throat, and muscle aches. The viral capsid antigen (VCA) plays a crucial role in the virus′s life cycle and is essential for the initial stages of infection, as VCA facilitates the attachment and entry of the virus into host cells. Understanding VCA function is vital, as VCA not only serves as a marker for diagnosing EBV infections but also has implications in the development of associated malignancies, including Burkitt lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. VCA is frequently utilized in diagnostic tests, making EBV viral capsid antigen (0231) monoclonal antibody an invaluable tool for researchers and clinicians studying EBV-related diseases.
