CTCF Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects CTCF in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CTCF, a member of the zinc finger transcription factor family, plays a crucial role in gene regulation by recognizing long and diverse DNA sequences, which is essential for maintaining proper gene expression patterns. CTCF′s DNA-binding domain consists of 11 zinc fingers, including 10 of the C2H2 class and 1 of the C2HC class, which are highly conserved across vertebrate species, underscoring evolutionary significance. CTCF functions as a transcriptional repressor for the c-myc gene and regulates the expression of the lysozyme gene, highlighting importance in cellular processes. Additionally, CTCF interacts with the essential activator domain in the promoter region of the amyloid beta-protein precursor (APP) gene, facilitating APP transcription, which is vital for synapse formation during neuronal development. CTCF expression is ubiquitous and primarily localized in the nucleus, where regulation occurs through post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation, which can negatively impact function during terminal differentiation. anti-CTCF antibody (C-9) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying gene regulation, cellular differentiation, and neurodevelopmental processes.
