AP-2α/β Antibody (3H547) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects AP-2α/β in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). AP-2α/β is a crucial member of the AP-2 transcription factor family, which plays a significant role in gene regulation by binding to the DNA consensus sequence CCCCAGGC, thereby initiating transcription of specific target genes. AP-2α is involved in the regulation of estrogen receptor expression, which is vital for normal cellular function and development, particularly in ectodermal-derived tissues. AP-2α′s importance is underscored by its association with various developmental disorders; deleterious mutations in AP-2α have been linked to conditions such as microphthalmia and corneal clouding, highlighting AP-2α′s critical role in eye development. AP-2α interacts with other members of the AP-2 family, including AP-2β, which can inhibit AP-2 activity, and together they form the OB2-1 transcription factor complex that upregulates the proto-oncogene c-ErbB-2, often overexpressed in breast cancer. Anti-AP-2α/β antibody (3H547)′s versatility in multiple applications makes this reagent an essential tool for researchers studying gene regulation and its implications in various diseases.
