SCP-3 Antibody (25) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SCP-3 in mouse, rat, human, and canine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). SCP-3 plays a crucial role in the formation of synaptonemal complexes, which are essential for proper chromosome pairing and recombination during meiotic prophase. SCP-3 is primarily located in the nucleus of testicular meiotic prophase cells and primordial germ cells, where SCP-3 contributes to the structural integrity of sister chromatid cohesion during mammalian meiosis I. SCP-3 is vital for ensuring accurate chromosome segregation, as SCP-3 facilitates the alignment and pairing of homologous chromosomes, thereby preventing aneuploidy and ensuring genetic stability in gametes. SCP-3 is characterized by a C-terminal coiled-coil domain, which promotes homotypic interactions, further underscoring SCP-3′s importance in the assembly and function of synaptonemal complexes. Notably, SCP-3 is first detected in leptotene-stage spermatocytes and is absent in late meiotic cells, highlighting SCP-3′s dynamic expression pattern during meiosis. With specific reactivity and critical role in meiosis, anti-SCP-3 antibody (25) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying reproductive biology and chromosomal dynamics.
