QUICK LINKS

Ro 20-1724 is a selective inhibitor of cGMP-insensitive PDE4 (type IV phosphodiesterase, PDE IV) found in immune cells which increase endothelial cAMP levels and stabilize the endothelial barrier. In addition, Ro 20-1724 inhibits PDE3 (type III phosphodiesterase, PDE III) enzymes that form complexes with PDE4 enzymes in cardiac tissue. Studies show that Ro 20-1724, like other PDE4 inhibitors, suppresses the release of cytokines and other inflammatory signals as well as inhibits the development of oxygen reactive species.
