SEE ALSO...

PEDF Antibody (LL-J) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b light chain antibody that detects pigment epithelium-derived growth factor (PEDF) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PEDF is a crucial glycoprotein predominantly secreted by retinal pigment epithelium cells, playing a significant role in neuroprotection and neuronal differentiation. PEDF belongs to the serine protease inhibitor (Serpin) superfamily and inhibits angiogenesis and the proliferation of various cell types, making PEDF vital in maintaining ocular health and preventing pathological conditions such as diabetic retinopathy. Strategic localization of PEDF within the interphotoreceptor matrix allows PEDF to effectively influence the underlying neural retina, thereby enhancing neuroprotective effects. PEDF promotes the survival of central nervous system neurons, protecting neurons from degeneration induced by serum withdrawal or glutamate cytotoxicity, which underscores PEDF′s importance in neurobiology and potential therapeutic applications.

Can sc-74254: PEDF (LL-J) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-74254: PEDF (LL-J) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
