    SEE ALSO...

MAG Antibody (G-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAG is a crucial cell-surface adhesion protein in the nervous system, primarily located on the surface of myelinating glial cells, where MAG plays a vital role in linking these cells to neuronal axons. This interaction is essential for the maintenance of myelin integrity and the proper functioning of the nervous system. MAG′s presence on the surface of myelinating cells not only facilitates the formation of myelin sheaths but also contributes to the inhibitory environment that regulates axonal growth. Understanding MAG′s localization and function is important, as MAG′s inhibitory properties can impact neuronal regeneration and repair processes following injury. Furthermore, the modulation of MAG′s effects by neurotrophins such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) highlights MAG′s significance in neurobiology, as these factors can counteract MAG′s growth-inhibitory signals, potentially paving the way for therapeutic strategies in neurodegenerative diseases and nerve injuries. Anti-MAG antibody (G-6) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the complex interactions within the nervous system and the mechanisms underlying myelin-related pathologies.
