Gα i-2 Antibody (L5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody raised against the Gα i-2 protein of rat origin, also known as G protein subunit GNAI2. Gα i-2 monoclonal antibody (L5) detects Gα i-2 across multiple species including mouse, rat, human, and bovine, making it suitable for a wide range of applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). The Gα i-2 protein is a crucial member of the heterotrimeric G protein family, which plays an essential role in transmitting signals from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. This signal transduction is vital for various cellular processes, as Gα i-2 modulates the activity of key effectors like adenylyl cyclase, thereby influencing the production of second messengers and regulating numerous physiological responses. Functionally, Gα i-2 is part of the Gi class of Gα subunits, which are characterized by their ability to bind and hydrolyze GTP, regulating the activation state of the G protein and its downstream signaling pathways. This regulation is critical for maintaining cellular homeostasis and enabling appropriate responses to extracellular stimuli such as hormones, neurotransmitters, and other signaling molecules. By inhibiting adenylyl cyclase, Gα i-2 plays a pivotal role in decreasing cyclic AMP levels, which is important for processes like the opening of atrial potassium channels and modulation of cardiac function. Gα i-2 (L5) antibody is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing researchers with the flexibility to choose the most suitable format for their specific experimental needs.
