DSPP Antibody (LFMb-21) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects DSPP protein of mouse, rat, human, and monkey origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. DSPP (LFMb-21) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DSPP protein, or dentin sialophosphoprotein, serves as a precursor that is cleaved into two functional proteins: dentin sialoprotein (DSP) and dentin phosphoprotein (DPP). These proteins are integral components of the dentin extracellular matrix in teeth, with DSP playing a crucial role in dentinogenesis, while DPP is essential for binding calcium, which facilitates the initial mineralization of the dentin matrix collagen and regulates the size and shape of mineral crystals. Proper functioning of DSPP is vital for tooth development and integrity, as mutations in the DSPP gene can lead to conditions such as DFNA39/DGI1, characterized by progressive hearing loss and dentinogenesis imperfecta, as well as DGI2 and DGI3, which result in brittle, discolored teeth. Understanding the role of DSPP and its derivatives in dental health is critical for developing therapeutic strategies for these genetic disorders.
