QUICK LINKS

Dicofol is an organochlorine pesticide that′s been used for over half a century. Structurally, it is a pyrimidine molecule featuring a methyl myristate group at its C-4 position. Interestingly, it′s produced by certain bacteria. In addition to its insecticidal properties, Dicofol can hinder the growth of some bacterial types, even those with high resistance. While it doesn′t majorly impact the activity of ryanodine receptors in plants, it does curtail the calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum. Analytical chemistry techniques can detect dicofol even at extremely low, picomolar concentrations.
