Cytokeratin 18 Antibody (RGE53) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Cytokeratin 18 in mouse, rat, human, and bovine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunohistochemistry (frozen), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Cytokeratin 18 antibody (RGE53) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytokeratin 18 is a vital component of the cytoskeleton in epithelial cells, playing a crucial role in maintaining cellular integrity and providing mechanical support. Cytokeratin 18 is predominantly located in the cytoplasm, forming intermediate filaments that contribute to the structural framework of epithelial tissues. Proper localization of Cytokeratin 18 is essential for normal functioning of epithelial cells, helping to resist mechanical stress and facilitate cell-cell adhesion. Alterations in Cytokeratin 18 expression or localization can serve as important biomarkers for various pathological conditions, including cancer, where expression is often upregulated in adenocarcinomas and basal cell carcinomas. Anti-Cytokeratin 18 antibody (RGE53)′s ability to detect across multiple species makes this reagent a valuable tool for researchers studying epithelial biology and disease.
