Clobenpropit Dihydrobromide, VUF 9153, has been shown to be a histamine H3 receptor antagonist via an increase brain histidine decarboxylase activity. This compound has been found to also enhance neurotransmitter GABA release in order to protect against NMDA-induced excitotoxicity. Further experiments suggest that Clobenpropit Dihydrobromide may inhibit iodophenpropit binding and therefore contain the ability to cross the blood brain barrier.
