QUICK LINKS

2-(1H-Indol-3-yl)-4-oxo-4-phenyl-butyric acid (IOPB) is a member of the indole-3-carboxylic acid family, which are found in various plants and animals. In vitro studies have demonstrated that 2-(1H-Indol-3-yl)-4-oxo-4-phenyl-butyric acid has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-cancer properties. It inhibits the activity of the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which is involved in the regulation of inflammation and pain. In addition, 2-(1H-Indol-3-yl)-4-oxo-4-phenyl-butyric acid may act to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro.
