(−)-Biotin Sulfoxide is a derivative of biotin, a water-soluble vitamin B7. It has a variety of applications in scientific research. It has been used in assays to detect the presence of biotin in a sample, as a marker to track the movement of biotin-labeled molecules, and in the synthesis of other compounds. (−)-Biotin Sulfoxide has been found to inhibit the activity of biotin-dependent enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis, glucose metabolism, and amino acid metabolism.
