SOD-2 Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 137-162 within an internal region of Superoxide Dismutase 2 (SOD2) of human origin, and is reactive with human species. SOD2, also known as manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), is a critical mitochondrial enzyme responsible for converting superoxide anions, a type of reactive oxygen species (ROS), into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. This enzymatic activity is vital for cellular homeostasis, as superoxide anions are byproducts of mitochondrial respiration that, if not neutralized, can lead to oxidative damage of proteins, lipids, and DNA. SOD2′s function is crucial in preventing oxidative stress, which has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer′s and Parkinson′s, ischemic heart disease, and cancer. As a homotetrameric manganese enzyme, SOD2 plays a unique and indispensable role in protecting mitochondrial function, and SOD2 deficiency or genetic mutations can result in severe conditions such as dilated cardiomyopathy and mitochondrial dysfunction. Anti-SOD2 antibody (E-7) is validated for applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), offering researchers a reliable tool for studying SOD2′s critical functions and regulation. Anti-SOD2 antibody (E-7) is available in both non-conjugated and conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing flexibility for diverse experimental needs.
