SEE ALSO...

SOAT2 Antibody (ACAT-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SOAT2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-SOAT2 antibody (ACAT-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SOAT2, also known as acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase-2, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the esterification of cholesterol, which is essential for the assembly of lipoproteins in mammalian cells. This process is particularly important as SOAT2 facilitates the transport of cholesterol and triglycerides in the bloodstream, thereby influencing cellular cholesterol homeostasis and preventing the accumulation of free cholesterol that can lead to cellular toxicity. SOAT2 is predominantly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum of human intestinal cells, where SOAT2 is involved in the synthesis of cholesterol esters, a key step in the formation of chylomicrons and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL). Deficiencies in SOAT2 can lead to severe metabolic disorders, including mental retardation and hypotonia, highlighting SOAT2′s significance in both lipid metabolism and overall health.

There appears to be a confusion between SOAT2 and ACAT2 (acetyl-coA Acyltransferase) as both share the ACAT2 acronym. However, while SOAT2 is located on chromosome 12, ACAT2 is on 6. You claim the antibody targets SOAT2, yet the gene info points at ACAT2.

Asked by: apisaturo
Thank you for your comment. I understand the confusion and we will look into correction any incorrect information. This SOAT2 antibody will detect SOAT2, and wasraised against recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids 314-388 of SOAT2 of human origin (accession#https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/protein/O75908)
