S-100 β chain Antibody (19) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects S-100 β chain in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). S-100 β chain is a member of the S-100 protein family, which plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including the regulation of cell cycle progression and differentiation. S-100 β chain is particularly important in the central nervous system, where S-100 β chain is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and nuclei of astrocytes and Schwann cells, contributing to the maintenance of cellular homeostasis and signaling. S-100 β chain interacts with other proteins, such as receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), which is involved in inflammatory responses and neurodegenerative diseases. The ability of S-100 β chain to form dimers with S-100 α chain enhances functional diversity, allowing S-100 β chain to participate in a range of cellular activities, including calcium signaling and modulation of cytoskeletal dynamics. S-100 β chain is also expressed in various other tissues, including skin and muscle, making S-100 β chain a valuable marker for studying both normal physiology and pathological conditions.
