MULK Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MULK in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MULK, also known as acylglycerol kinase (AGK), is a 422 amino acid protein localized to the mitochondrial membrane, where MULK plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism. MULK functions as a lipid kinase that phosphorylates monoacylglycerol and diacylglycerol, leading to the production of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and phosphatidic acid (PA). The generation of LPA is significant as LPA is involved in various signaling pathways, including the transactivation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), which promote cell growth and proliferation. Notably, MULK overexpression has been linked to the initiation and progression of prostate cancer, highlighting MULK′s potential as a therapeutic target. Additionally, MULK utilizes magnesium as a cofactor and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, further underscoring MULK′s complexity and functional diversity. The gene encoding MULK is mapped to chromosome 7q34, making MULK a critical component in understanding lipid signaling and cancer biology. anti-MULK antibody (F-5) is an essential tool for researchers investigating MULK′s role in various biological processes and disease states.
