LDH-A Antibody (E-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects LDH-A protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LDH-A (E-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The lactate dehydrogenase A (LDH-A) protein plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of L-lactate and NAD to pyruvate and NADH, which is the final step of anaerobic glycolysis. This process is vital for energy production, especially in tissues that rely heavily on anaerobic metabolism, such as muscle during intense exercise. The LDH family consists of three isoforms—LDH-A, LDH-B, and LDH-C—each exhibiting distinct tissue distribution patterns; LDH-A is predominantly found in muscle tissue, while LDH-B is primarily expressed in the heart, and LDH-C is restricted to the testis and sperm. The differential expression of these isoforms not only highlights their specific physiological roles but also underscores their potential as biomarkers for various conditions, including germ cell tumors. Notably, the genes encoding human LDH-A and LDH-C are located on chromosome 11, while the LDH-B gene is found on chromosome 12. A deficiency in the LDH-A gene has been associated with exertional myoglobinuria, emphasizing the importance of this protein in muscle function and overall metabolic health.
