SEE ALSO...

hamartin Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects hamartin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). hamartin (C-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. hamartin (C-8) monoclonal antibody recognizes a protein that plays a crucial role in regulating cell growth and proliferation, particularly in the context of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), an autosomal dominant genetic disorder that leads to the formation of benign tumors known as hamartomas. hamartin, encoded by the tuberous sclerosis-1 gene (TSC1), forms a complex with tuberin, the product of the TSC2 gene, which is essential for inhibiting the mTOR pathway, a key regulator of cellular metabolism and growth. Disruption of this complex can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and tumor development, highlighting hamartin′s importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis. hamartin expression is widespread in adult tissues, with particularly high levels found in the brain, heart, and kidney, underscoring its significance in various physiological processes.
