GFP Antibody (15) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody developed against recombinant Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), also referred to as Aequorea victoria GFP or Emerald GFP in certain variants. GFP is a 27 kDa protein originally isolated from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria, renowned for its ability to emit bright green fluorescence when exposed to blue to ultraviolet light. This fluorescence is a result of GFP′s distinctive β-barrel structure, which consists of 11 β-strands that form a stable barrel enclosing an internal α-helix housing the chromophore. The β-barrel not only stabilizes the chromophore but also protects it from quenching interactions, ensuring efficient and reliable fluorescence.
