fetuin-A Antibody (H-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects fetuin-A in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Fetuin-A, also known as α-2-HS-glycoprotein, is a secreted plasma protein primarily produced in hepatocytes, monocytes, and macrophages, and plays a crucial role in maintaining serum calcium homeostasis and mineralization by preferentially binding to calcium and barium ions in the bloodstream. Anti-fetuin-A antibody (H-11) is particularly useful in studying inflammation, as fetuin-A levels significantly decrease during tissue injury, leading to its association with macrophage membranes. The membrane-bound form of fetuin-A enhances the uptake of cationic small molecules into activated macrophages, thereby facilitating mechanisms that deactivate these immune cells. Structurally, biologically active fetuin-A is derived from a precursor protein that undergoes cleavage at the amino terminus, resulting in two chains linked by a single disulfide bond, which is essential for its functional properties. The ability of fetuin-A to act as an acute phase anti-inflammatory mediator underscores its significance in regulating the innate immune response, making fetuin-A (H-11) monoclonal antibody a valuable tool for researchers studying inflammation and immune regulation.
