    SEE ALSO...

CNTF Antibody (G-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CNTF is a crucial neuropoietic cytokine that plays a significant role in promoting the survival and differentiation of various cell types, including sensory, sympathetic, and motor neurons, which is vital for maintaining the integrity of the nervous system. CNTF (G-7) antibody targets proteins primarily located in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues, where CNTF exerts effects by binding to the CNTF receptor complex, which consists of CNTFRα, a specific chain for CNTF, and a heterodimer of the gp130 chain and LIFRβ chain. This receptor complex is essential for activating downstream signaling pathways that lead to neuronal survival and regeneration. Notably, CNTF has been implicated in the pathogenesis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), highlighting its importance in neurodegenerative diseases. Research indicates that while mice lacking CNTF exhibit certain deficits, those with a homozygous null mutation in the CNTFRα gene face severe motor neuron deficits and perinatal mortality, suggesting that CNTF and its receptor are critical for the development of the neonatal nervous system. Anti-CNTF antibody (G-7) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying neuronal health and disease mechanisms, providing insights into the therapeutic potential of targeting this cytokine in neurodegenerative conditions.
