    SEE ALSO...

BPDE Antibody (8E11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the BPDE protein of various species by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-BPDE antibody (8E11) is available as a non-conjugated isotype antibody. Benzopyrene-7,8-diol-9,10-epoxide (BPDE) is a potent five-ring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon known for its mutagenic and highly carcinogenic properties, primarily arising from incomplete combustion processes such as those found in coal tar, automobile exhaust, tobacco smoke, and charbroiled foods. The significance of BPDE lies not only in its role as a carcinogen but also in its mechanism of action; BPDE is first activated by cytochrome P4501A1 to form (+)-benzo[a]pyrene 7,8-oxide, which is subsequently metabolized by epoxide hydrolase to yield (−)-benzo[a]pyrene-7,8-dihydrodiol. This compound ultimately forms the active carcinogen by further reacting with cytochrome P4501A1, resulting in benzopyrene diol epoxide. The electrophilic nature of the two carbons in the epoxide allows BPDE to intercalate and distort DNA, leading to covalent bonding with nucleophilic guanine nucleobases at the N2 position. This interaction is critical as BPDE results in increased micronuclei formation and apoptosis in cells, contributing to the development of various cancers, particularly lung cancer. BPDE monoclonal antibody (8E11) detection capabilities are essential for research into the mechanisms of carcinogenesis and the effects of environmental pollutants on human health.

As the description, IgG1 (kappa light chain) provided at 200 µg/ml. Is that means the product only contains the light chains of the antibody or it contains the whole antibody? Besides, is there any information about the binding efficiency of the product?

    Asked by: Yang J
Thank you for your question. This is a complete and functional antibody. The phrase “IgG1 (kappa light chain)” only indicates which kind of light chain (lambda or kappa) the antibody contains. This is relevant for secondary detection using our binding proteins: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/Secondary-Antibodies/_/N-1hoaxk4

What is the recommended secondary reagent to be used with sc-52624: BPDE (8E11) mouse monoclonal primary?

    Asked by: TinTin
We recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
