QUICK LINKS

The dye 2,5-Dibromo-6-isopropyl-3-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone, is also known as DBMIB. Research shows DBMIB can act as an inhibitor by residing at the Qo site of the cytochrome b6f complex. DBMIB can stimulate antimycin-insensitive reduction of cytochrome c catalyzed by the bc1 complex. The compound, also known as dibromothymoquinone, has been shown to inhibit and reduce at the donor side of Photosystem I of intact chloroplasts, as well as inhibit both light-harvesting complex II kinase and photosynthetic electron transport in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii cells.
