This interference is initiated by the creation of an intermediate known as betacyanin, which absorbs light at 670 nm, thereby preventing light being used in photosynthesis. In organic synthesis, 1-(2-Furfuryl)-2-thiourea is used as a catalyst for the creation of diverse compounds such as amines, heterocyclic compounds, and polymers."
