    SP17 Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SP17 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SP17 (C-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SP17, also known as sperm protein 17, SPA17, or cancer/testis antigen 22 (CT22), is a crucial sperm surface peripheral membrane protein predominantly expressed in the testis. SP17 features two heparan binding motifs and a C-terminal calmodulin-binding domain, which are essential for function. SP17 exists as a homodimer and is localized to the head and tail of spermatozoa, where SP17 plays a significant role in fertilization by binding with high affinity to the zona pellucida of the oocyte. Additionally, SP17 is located in the fibrous sheath of the sperm tail, where SP17 interacts with AKAP 3 through its N-terminus, potentially contributing to signaling pathways in a PKA-independent AKAP complex. Notably, SP17 is also recognized as a cancer/testis antigen, with expression observed in ovarian cancer and multiple myeloma, indicating potential as a target for tumor immunotherapy.
