Purα Antibody (80-L) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Purα protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-Purα antibody (80-L) is available as a non-conjugated format. The Pur protein family includes four members: Purα, Purβ, and two isoforms of Purγ, with Purα being highly conserved across species. This single-stranded DNA- and RNA-binding protein features three conserved signature repeats that specifically recognize guanosine-rich motifs, particularly the (GGN)n sequence known as the PUR element. Purα protein is ubiquitously expressed and plays a critical role in various cellular processes, including transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, oncogenic transformation, and post-natal brain development. Purα is involved in binding HIV-1 TAR RNA, which activates HIV-1 transcription, highlighting significance in viral pathogenesis. Purα has been implicated in the progression of several diseases, including Alzheimer′s disease, prostate cancer, fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome, and JC virus infections.
