PILR-α Antibody (47-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the PILR-alpha protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PILR-alpha antibody (47-12) is available as a non-conjugated format. PILR-α protein, also known as paired immunoglobulin (Ig)-like type 2 receptor α or FDF03, plays a crucial role in the immune system by functioning as an inhibitory receptor that helps regulate immune responses. PILR-α is predominantly expressed in hematopoietic tissues and is found in various immune cells, including macrophages, monocytes, granulocytes, and dendritic cells. PILR-α recognizes sialylated O-glycosylated ligands, such as MIC2, which are important for cell signaling and immune regulation. PILR-α contains an immune receptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif (ITIM) that facilitates the recruitment of phosphatases, leading to the inhibition of immune activation. PILR-α exists in four isoforms due to alternative splicing, with isoforms 1 and 2 being single-pass type I membrane proteins that localize to the cell membrane, while isoforms 3 and 4 are secreted proteins. This diversity in isoforms allows for a nuanced regulation of immune responses, making PILR-α a critical component in maintaining immune homeostasis.
