pICln Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects pICln protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-pICln antibody (G-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. pICln protein plays a crucial role in the assembly of the spliceosome, a complex responsible for the processing of pre-mRNA into mature mRNA. This assembly involves the ordered incorporation of Sm proteins onto small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs), a process that is facilitated by the survival of motor neuron (SMN) protein and is significantly enhanced by the symmetrical dimethylation of specific arginine residues in Sm proteins. This post-translational modification is catalyzed by the methylosome, a complex that includes the type II methyltransferase PRMT5, pICln, and additional novel factors. The interaction between pICln and Sm proteins is vital, as pICln not only binds to the Sm domains but also acts as an inhibitor of small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (SnRNP) assembly, thereby regulating the formation of the Sm core. pICln is a highly conserved protein that is ubiquitously expressed and primarily localized in the cytoplasm, where pICln may also function as a swelling-activated anion channel or a channel regulator, highlighting its multifaceted role in cellular processes. The gene encoding human pICln is located on chromosome 11q14.1.
